Charles Artemas Kent was born in Hopkinton, New York, Oct. 11, 1835, the son of Artemas and Sarah (Weed) Kent. He received a A.B. from the University of Vermont in 1856 and studied at Andover Theological Seminary, 1857-1859. Kent was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 1960 began practicing law in Detroit.
